  • U.S.A's Independence Day Celebration

    Independence Day is widely known by the people of the United States on the fourth of July. People would simply call it as the Fourth of July celebration. It is a National Holiday all over the United States. This is to commemorate the Independence gained by the people of United States from the Kingdom of Great Britain, This special day is celebrated with festive and fireworks across the nation. A lot of events are organized in different states basically to celebrate this very important day for all the people of America.

    Fourth of July can be tracked back on July 4, 1776, when the United States citizens declared Independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Since then, America celebrated Independence Day on the 4th of July with parades, barbecues, picnic, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and fireworks. Many states held several events to celebrate the history, traditions and patriotism of Americans. In New York, people have various events like Hot Dog Eating Contests to celebrate this special day, however the most awaited one was the Macy's spectacular Fourth of July Fireworks display, a tradition in Hudson River. Many New Yorkers come to this event just to experience the great pyrotechnics display. In Philadelphia, they celebrated this annual event around two weeks with its opening in June consisting of various concerts, food events and a full day celebration on 4th of July. In Chicago, the Navy Pier held a fireworks display. While in Baltimore, the Inner Harbor was packed with people patiently waiting for the fireworks display finale. In Washington DC, they started the celebration with the National Independence Day Parade and the National Symphony Orchestra performs in the evening which happens to be among the country's largest firework shows that illuminates the reflecting pool on the National Mall. As part of the Independence Day celebration, the five-decade-old tradition of swearing in new US citizens was held in Charlottesville, Virginia where seventy-seven people took an oath.

    On the other part of the country, a barbecue and concert party for the military members and families was hosted by the United States President on the South Lawn of the White House. This is to honor all the military men that have worked hard to protect the nation. As what President Barack Obama told the troops, “America is proud of all of you".

    During this festivity, it is traditional to spend the whole day outdoors. The traditional foods are anticipated like barbecue, hotdogs, hamburgers, corn, apple pie, frozen treats, and salads.
